Things are going into full speed in “My Dearest Nemesis” this week! Though Ban Ju Yeon (Choi Hyun Wook) tried to get rid of Baek Su Jeong (Mun Ka Young) at the very beginning, we now see him constantly looking out for her and seeking her company. But as we see their blooming friendship, you cannot help but think about the moment when the real identity of “Black Dragon” will be revealed. And because we know that the moment will wreak havoc between our main couple, the only thing we can do for now is to enjoy their silly misunderstandings. Here are some things that created great confusion between our leads in this week’s episodes!

Warning: spoilers from episodes 5-6 ahead!

1. Their best friends trying to break them apart

Jun Qi Luo (Angelababy) leads a double life. Though the daughter of a merchant family, she lives under the guise of Jun Fei Fan, the illegitimate son of the Jun family. The reason is simple. As a woman she cannot succeed in the male-dominated world of trade. Neither can she use her sharp skill set, which includes her aptitude for designing weapons as well as machinery. She is not only a master smith par excellence but also has strong business acumen. Fei Fan has helped plan investments as well as set up collectives in Nan Yan, contributing to its thriving economy. The legend of Fei Fan has spread far and wide across the region. Fei Fan’s immense contributions also helped her family get goodwill and patronage from the King. Adamant in her search to procure black granite to craft a distinct arrow, she decides to take a business trip to Xi Kang. The route is lawless and strife ridden as well as under the watch of bandits. She defies her father and sets off on the journey with a trusted companion. As her horses fall prey to horse plague, she tries to seek help from merchants, who are actually bandits in disguise. They are soon ambushed by the warlord of the Be Xiuan clan, Xuan Lie (Song Wei Long).

Although it’d be nice to see more of the romance between the second lead couple, it is also hilarious watching them try to break Ju Yeon and Su Jeong apart before they even start a romance. Nonetheless, their efforts to keep them away from each other have the opposite result, as it makes Ju Yeon believe Su Jeong is interested in him. And when he sees her with Shin Won, the jealousy in his heart explodes and pushes him to the edge, to the point of going to her house in the middle of the night and creating more suspicion about their relationship.

2. Ban Ju Yeon showing his concern for Baek Su Jeong

At this point, it is pretty clear that Ju Yeon has a major crush on Su Jeong, but as the clueless man that he is, he decides he is only concerned about her as his employee. It’s not entirely clear whether she could have the same feelings for him since she has a prejudice about younger guys. However, the moment she sees him arriving at the country farm where she is trying to close a business deal, you can see she gets the butterflies in her stomach. Before she can dwell on that feeling, she conceals his identity, saying he is only her little brother. And so they team up to win the heart of the farm’s owner and convince her to take her products to their department store.

Being in the friend zone is one thing, but being in the little brother zone is too much to bear for Ju Yeon. He cannot understand the reasons behind Su Jeong’s rejection, but we do. The shadow of “Black Dragon” is too big for her to step out of that shameful memory and open up her heart. In that sense, the way they drag out the revealing of his identity can be a little frustrating. It ends up becoming one of those situations in which everyone but the main leads know the truth until it is too late. But for the sake of the plot, we can endure it a little longer while seeing them come and go, amusing us with their more than evident romantic chemistry.

3. Baek Su Jeong and Ban Ju Yeon surprisingly drunk kissing

If something was shocking and unexpected in this week’s episodes, it was the surprise kiss between Su Jeong and Ju Yeon. After having to spend the night on the farm, they start drinking and end up kissing inadvertently. Although the scene in itself is quite charming, watching him forget about it is also bittersweet. Naturally, the confusion comes especially for Su Jeong, who can’t believe he actually forgot all about it. And the turbulence of her feelings afterwards is relatable, especially because she likes him too. But now that she is barely dealing with her inner struggles about liking someone younger than herself again, she has to pretend like nothing happened for the sake of her job and reputation.

On the other hand, Ju Yeon, who can’t understand the change in her attitude towards him, tries to look more attractive in her eyes and make her forget about their age gap. He becomes even more desperate after he overhears she is going on a blind date, but everything comes to an end once he gets a reality check from none other than his despicable grandmother. The fact that despite his efforts, he gets humiliated and snubbed every time they are together, makes him realize he is once again losing his focus, just like when he met his first love.

4. Ban Ju Yeon’s hot and cold attitude towards Baek Su Jeong

After that truly unpleasant moment with the old lady, Ban Ju Yeon decides to step aside, putting up his walls around Su Jeong. And this dilly-dally attitude, one day pursuing her, one day giving her the cold shoulder, makes Su Jeong feel like she is too young, too pretty, and too proud to let a simple kiss steal away her peace of mind. Driven by her desire to forget about the incident, she finally accepts going on a blind date (cameo by Hong Jong Hyun) with a man who ends up being the perfect match for her. But the flame of their feelings is already ignited, and despite being apart, Ju Yeon and Su Jeong cannot forget about their moments together.

This is a moment any kind of romance should have: when they realize everything they used to like seems dull after they’ve shared it with someone they care about. So, as soon as Ju Yeon recovers his memories of their kiss, he goes after Su Jeong, forgetting about his promise to his grandmother and even risking to expose his secret life. That is how you can prove it is true love, by betting everything on it. And let’s hope every confusion and misunderstanding between them ends with a more romantic and exciting love confession in the upcoming episodes of this show!
